Even Rebirth - now it's patched up quite nicely - is a very entertaining game, especially modded.

I'm also quite a big fan of the X series of games, I've played them all since the original X:btf. E:D is improving, but it's far to focused on the Multiplayer aspect and being tied to a server even if playing SOLO. Personally, I prefer my space games with a little depth, not just a simplistic shooter. before saving for the night when you want to.
It's easy to jump in, do a few missions, earn some dosh etc. SPG2 is an easier game to get enjoyment from when your often busy with real-world things. I will get back into E:D - I'm an original backer so I get ALL future content (other than the paid for skins you cannot earn in-game) so I will check back periodically. It was v1.2 I when I last actively played.

I personally played in SOLO while I learnt the game, but haven't been in-game for months other than to check an update applied OK and the game still worked. Want to do a simple trade run before bed? Erm, no, you've just been interdicted and attacked several times in a row, and now it's two hours later! lol. If you play in Open you're also at the whim of how other players want to play the game, rather than how you do. There is a lot of impressive tech behind the scenes, but it does feel very much like a "simple" space shooter after you get past all that. I like Elite Dangerous but, as Zeno says, it's a VERY different game. But I don't mind, if I had a car with autopilot, I wouldn't fall asleep on a highway, no matter what.

Standard Docking Computer in Elite decided to crash me into station with full cargo of expensive goods, while I got up to make some coffee. It's pretty damn hardcore and can be frustrating if you're not used to losing everything you accomplished in last few weeks in an instant. I would recommend Elite because it offers completely different experience then Starpoint Gemini 2, but it's not for everyone. I know I forgot many of them, but all of them are space games, each pretty different. It all depends on what you wanna do in the game. Both games are in space but that's about it. I love both games and play both games because they are completely different genres. If you spent 3 weeks, literally 3 weeks, traveling and exploring, scanning thousands of systems worth several million credits, and you make one mistake before getting back to civilization and die, you will lose those three weeks of your time with all money, progress and your ship.
